April Fool’s Day — an Intro

I’ve been a baseball fan for almost as long as I can remember. That’s well over 30 years now, and I’ve been writing to my friends about baseball for some time. One of them, Chris to be specific, has suggested for some time that I start a blog so that more people could read my highly-opinionated musings.

So here it is. I write mostly about the Giants, A’s and Twins. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, so the first two teams have my heart. I write about the Twins a lot because Chris is a Twins fan (raised in St. Paul). Besides, the Twins are, along with the A’s, one of the small market teams that does more with less, which makes them interesting to follow and analyze.

However, I write about whatever is happening in baseball worldwide that catches my interest, so there’s a good chance I will eventually address your favorite team, or baseball around the world. For example, I have, of late, been posting on www.japanesebaseball.com, an excellent English-language site providing news and views on the Japanese leagues and Japanese players. I have posted on that site mainly about Japanese players in the U.S. and foreign players in Japan.

I am opinionated and not afraid to be so. I will deride the Dodgers and the Yankees at every opportunity, especially when they give me a real reason to do so. If you don’t like my style, then don’t read it. If you do like it, or want to challenge some of the things I write, please give me your comments. I can’t promise that I will respond, but if the response is interesting, there’s a good chance I will.
